Hockey glove size chart
Measure from the bottom of your palm to the tip of your middle finger and double it to get the glove size in inches: a 6.5" hand takes a 13" glove. Between sizes, most guides round up.1,2 By age, Bauer lists 8" and 9" gloves for ages 3 to 7, 10" and 11" for 8 to 11, 12" and 13" for 11 and up, and 14" and 15" for 14 and up.3
How to measure for hockey gloves
- CCM: measure the distance from the tip of the middle finger to the bottom of the palm, then match that hand length to the chart.4
- Warrior and TRUE charts at Ice Warehouse: measure hand length from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger. Between sizes, round up to the nearest size.5,6
- Ice Warehouse guide: measure from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger, then double it to get the glove size in inches. A result between sizes (for example 13.5") rounds up.1
- The Hockey Shop: measure from the tip of the longest finger to the bottom of the palm and double it. Growing players round up; full-grown players round down below .5 and up at .5 or more.2

How hockey gloves should fit
- The cuff should fully cover the wrist.1
- The top of the glove cuff should meet the bottom of the elbow pad, with no gap and no overlap. A glove that is too small leaves an exposed gap; one that is too large overlaps the elbow pad and limits wrist movement.1
- Fingertips should not extend past the end of the glove's fingertips.1
- Fingers should reach the fingertip gussets without pressing against them, and the palm should not sit on the inner cuff. For growing players, about one finger width between the top of the palm and the cuff edge, with the pinky at least 3/4" into its slot.2
- Warrior fit families: Alpha is a hybrid with more volume than Covert but still anatomical; Covert is tapered for a close-to-the-hand feel; Franchise is a classic four-roll design with a traditional, roomy fit.9
- Ice Warehouse fit profiles: Warrior Franchise Pro is hybrid traditional (loose fingers and cuff, snug backhand); Warrior Rise and Covert QR6 Pro youth are contoured (snug fingers, backhand and cuff); TRUE Catalyst 9X5 is tapered (snug fingers and backhand, relaxed cuff).5,6,7,10
- CCM describes its NEXT glove as a more anatomical fit with a short pre-angled cuff for wrist mobility. A short cuff leaves more forearm for the elbow pad to cover.4
Where the brands disagree
- Measuring method: Ice Warehouse's guide and The Hockey Shop say to double the palm-to-fingertip length to get the glove size. CCM and the brand tables at Ice Warehouse map hand length straight to a size, e.g. 6.5" hand = 13" glove. Both lead to the same size; only the wording differs.
- Hand length per size: CCM gives overlapping ranges (13" = 6.5-7.5"), Ice Warehouse brand tables give one value (13" = 6.5"), The Hockey Shop TRUE chart gives 13" = 6.0" to 6.5". The Hockey Shop's ranges sit about half an inch lower than CCM's.
- TRUE 11" height: 4'5"-5' at Ice Warehouse vs 4'7" to 5'0" at The Hockey Shop. TRUE 15" height: 5'9"+ vs 5'9" to 6'1"; weight 160+ vs 160 to 200+.
- The Ice Warehouse TRUE chart is identical to its Warrior chart and uses the same how-to-measure wording, so it may be a store-wide chart rather than TRUE's own.
- 8" youth: Ice Warehouse general chart says age 4-7 and 3'3"-4'1"; the Warrior Rise youth chart says age 3-5 and 3'-3'6". 9": 6-9 and 3'9"-4'7" vs 5-7 and 3'5"-3'11".
