Hockey rink dimensions
An NHL rink is 200 feet long and 85 feet wide.1 The two blue lines are 12 inches wide and sit 64 feet out from each goal line, splitting the ice into defending, neutral and attacking zones.1 (NHL Rule 1)
The details
The corners are rounded with a 28-foot radius. (Rule 1)1
The goal lines are 11 feet from each end of the rink. (Rule 1)1
Those measurements put each blue line 75 feet from its end boards, which leaves about 50 feet of neutral zone between the blue lines. (Rule 1)1,2
The center red line is 12 inches wide and runs across the middle of the rink. (Rule 1)1
Faceoff circles have a 15-foot radius: one at center ice and two in each end zone. (Rule 1)1
There are nine faceoff spots: center ice, four in the neutral zone and four in the end zones. (Rule 76)1
The end-zone spots are 20 feet out from the goal line and 22 feet to either side of the line joining the two nets. (Rule 1)1
The four neutral-zone spots are 5 feet from the blue lines and 44 feet apart. (Rule 1)1
The goal crease is a 6-foot-radius half circle centered on the goal line, with side lines starting one foot outside each post and running 4 feet 6 inches out. (Rule 1)1
The goal opening is 6 feet wide (inside the posts) and 4 feet high. (Rule 2)1
The boards stand 40 to 48 inches above the ice, ideally 42 inches. (Rule 1)1
Safety glass rises 8 feet above the boards at each end and at least 6 feet along the sides. (Rule 1)1
The goalie trapezoid's lines start 8 feet from each goal post at the goal line and spread to 11 feet from each post at the end boards. (Rule 1)1
Each players' bench should be 24 feet long and seat at least 14 people, and both benches sit across the ice from the penalty boxes. (Rule 3)1
An IIHF rink is 60 meters long and 26 to 30 meters wide, with corner radii of 7.0 to 8.5 meters.3
On an IIHF rink, the goal lines are 4.0 meters from each end, faceoff circles have a 4.5-meter radius, and the ideal board height is 1.07 meters.3
The IIHF goal opening is 1.83 meters wide and 1.22 meters high, the same size as the NHL's 6 by 4 feet.3
USA Hockey uses a 6-foot half-circle crease, while NFHS and NCAA use a truncated half circle.4
